Here is a brief overview of our VAST Program:
The Veterans Adaptive Sports & Training (VAST) Program is a program of Pineland Farms, Inc.
and was created in May of 2012 by Kristina Sabasteanski. Kristina is the Director of VAST and
is a two-time Olympic Biathlete and ten-year Veteran of the Army World Class Athlete Program.
VAST is open to any Veteran with a disability, Traumatic Brain Injury or Post-Traumatic Stress
or any Veteran that simply wants to participate and volunteer their time. The primary focus of
the Program is the weekly sports programming at Pineland Farms. We currently offer
year-round programming which includes: WC basketball, WC tennis, bowling, disc golf, pellet
rifle shooting, cycling, orienteering, fly fishing, archery, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing,
boccia and badminton. All equipment, facility access and training is provided at no cost to the

In addition to weekly programming, VAST also hosts more extensive sport specific camps, such
as XC Ski and Snowshoe Trips, Mountain Bike Trips, Turkey and Deer Hunting Camps, Nordic
Biathlon Camps, Sailing Trips and Fishing Trips. During these events, VAST provides
transportation/airline tickets, housing and food, along with all necessary equipment. In the past
year, VAST provided service to 179 unique Veterans joining us for 870 Participation Days that
were supported by two part-time employees and a dedicated group of over 40 Volunteers that
contributed 363 days of their time. VAST is also supported by a competitive grant from the
Veterans Administration, numerous members of the Pineland Farms Staff and generous
donations from individuals and organizations that want to help us serve our Veterans. Here is a
